Wellborn Kitchen Remodeling: The West Palm Beach Owner’s Guide
If you own a Wellborn kitchen and a cabinet, hinge, drawer slide, or finish has failed, a full or partial kitchen remodel in West Palm Beach typically runs $14,000 – $45,000 installed, depending on scope. But most homeowners we hear from don’t need a full gut job, they need the failed part matched, replaced, and the kitchen put back in working order without a six-week wait. Bradford Remodeling Co West Palm Beach stocks and installs Wellborn-compatible hardware, doors, drawer fronts, and cabinet boxes, and we quote a written price before the first tool comes out.

The way homeowners usually find us: a drawer sticks, a hinge sags, a door won’t close square, or the cabinet face has delaminated from Florida humidity. Sometimes it’s a single cabinet that failed. Sometimes it’s the whole run that’s tired. Either way, you want to know what it costs, whether it can be matched to Wellborn’s current specs, and who’s going to stand behind the work. That’s exactly what this page covers.
Which Wellborn Models This Applies To

Wellborn has built cabinets under several lines over the years: Estate, Premier, Select, Home Concepts, and Cabinetworks. The older the line, the more likely the original hardware and door profile is discontinued, which matters more than most homeowners realize. A drawer slide from a 2005 Wellborn Estate kitchen is not a drop-in match for a 2020 Wellborn Premier slide, even if both are side-mount full-extension.
Here’s what you need to identify before you call anyone. Open a drawer and look for a label on the side of the drawer box or the back of the door. Wellborn stamps a manufacturing code, and the cabinet interior often carries a line designation. Take a picture. Measure the door width and height to the sixteenth, and measure the hinge bore, it’s almost always 35mm on Wellborn doors made after about 1998, but not always. If you can’t find a label, a photo of the hinge profile and the door edge tells us most of what we need.
The OEM versus aftermarket decision for Wellborn comes down to one thing: are you replacing a part on an existing cabinet, or are you replacing the cabinet itself? For hardware, a quality aftermarket slide or hinge (Blum, Salice, Grass) often outperforms the original Wellborn-spec part, and we stock those on the truck. For doors and drawer fronts, you want an exact-profile match, and that usually means ordering from a Wellborn dealer or having the door custom-machined to spec. We do both.

Signs Your Wellborn Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Sagging door that won’t close square. This is almost always hinge wear or hinge screws stripped in the cabinet face. In West Palm Beach humidity, the cabinet face itself can also swell, which throws the reveal off. Replacing the hinge is cheap; replacing a compromised face frame is a cabinet-level decision.
- Drawer that sticks, racks, or falls off the track. Side-mount slides wear at the nylon rollers. Once one roller goes flat, the drawer cocks and the other roller binds. You can nurse it along with adjustment, but the fix is new slides, and Wellborn drawers from the Select line and earlier often used a slide that’s no longer made, requiring an adapter plate or a switch to an undermount.
- Delaminating cabinet doors or drawer fronts. Wellborn’s older thermo-foil and laminate doors, common in Estate and Home Concepts cabinets, delaminate at the edges when Florida humidity and repeated steam from the cooktop get under the film. This is not repairable in any way that holds; the door gets replaced or the finish gets stripped and the door refinished.
- Soft-close no longer soft. The damper inside a soft-close hinge is sealed. When it fails, the door slams. We swap the hinge, which is a five-minute fix. If the soft-close mechanism on the drawer slide fails, the slide gets replaced, and while you’re at it, we check the other drawers in the run, because they rarely fail alone.
- Cabinet box pulling off the wall. In West Palm Beach homes we see this in older kitchens where the installer cheated on fasteners or the wall substrate behind the cabinet is drywall over block with insufficient anchors. This is a safety issue, not a hardware issue. The cabinet needs to come down, the wall anchors get corrected, and the box gets remounted. Curtis Lane has seen more of these in coastal Florida block homes than anywhere else he’s worked.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A full Wellborn kitchen remodel in West Palm Beach runs $14,000 – $45,000 installed. That range reflects what actually drives cost: whether the cabinet boxes are sound and you’re replacing doors, drawers, and hardware, or whether the boxes themselves are failing, in which case you’re into full cabinet replacement, countertop removal and reinstallation, and the wall and floor prep that goes with it. Smaller scoped work lands lower: cabinet installation alone runs $4,000 – $13,000, and countertop installation $2,000 – $6,500.
What’s included when Bradford does the work: a written price before we touch anything, in labor and materials, down to the line item. No number moves at the door. The crew is background-checked and uniformed. The work is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise, a written guarantee on every completed project that says if the repair or remodel fails within a year, we come back and correct it at no charge. And every job closes squared away: clean site, documented scope, signed written guarantee in your hand.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do a few things yourself. Identify the cabinet line, take the measurements and photos I described above, and check whether the hinge screws are simply loose. If the door is sagging but the hinge is tight and the face frame is solid, you can adjust the hinge screws with a Phillips, which is about the extent of what I’d hand a homeowner.
What you shouldn’t do is pull a loaded upper cabinet off the wall, attempt to strip and refinish thermo-foil doors, or rebuild a drawer box with hand tools. The first one can hurt you; the second two just end up costing more to fix than if you’d called. If a cabinet is separating from the wall, leave it alone and call us at (728) 203-9809. We’ll get someone out to look at it and give you a straight number.
FAQs

Wellborn cabinet boxes, when kept dry and out of direct water contact, routinely last 25 to 40 years, even in West Palm Beach humidity. The failure points are the finish, the hinges, and the drawer slides, all of which typically go before the box itself. If your boxes are sound, you may not need a full remodel, we can replace doors, drawer fronts, and hardware for a fraction of the full-kitchen price. Call (728) 203-9809 for an exact quote, estimates are free.
No. Once thermo-foil or laminate separates from the MDF substrate, there is no adhesive or clamp method that produces a durable repair, and any shop that says otherwise is guessing. The door gets replaced with a matching profile, or the whole door set gets refinished in a paint-grade or stain-grade finish that eliminates the film problem entirely. We’ll quote both options so you can decide.
A full hardware swap on a standard 30-linear-foot kitchen, hinges, slides, and hinges, is a one-day job. Replacing a full door and drawer-front set is typically three to five working days, depending on finish and profile matching. A full cabinet replacement with countertop coordination runs two to four weeks. We document the scope and schedule in writing before work starts.
We stock common Wellborn-compatible hardware on the truck: Blum and Salice hinges, side-mount and undermount drawer slides, and cabinet screws and anchors. For Wellborn doors, drawer fronts, and cabinet boxes, we order to exact profile and finish spec through our dealer channels, and we install the moment the parts land. We also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone kitchens. Bradford Remodeling Co West Palm Beach is an independent service provider; we’re not affiliated with Wellborn, and we don’t pretend to be.
